NSW Seniors’ Week is 13-24 February, with many social events and activities during this period being held by Government Departments and other seniors’ associations. Waverley Council has talks, performances and activities for everyone.
We at the Astra will be taking part this year by organising a bus trip for residents to attend the event ‘Being Healthy’, conducted by Waverley Council. There will be talks and question and answer sessions from local experts. All residents and family/friends are most welcome to attend.

Talks:
Macular degeneration and other vision conditions – Educator from Macular Disease Foundation Australia will talk about prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment, followed by Q&A.
Osteoporosis and bone health – Educator from Osteoporosis Australia will talk about prevention and lifestyle, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment, followed by Q&A.
Importance of exercise and relaxation – An exercise instructor will speak about the value of appropriate exercise, followed by Q&A.
A BBQ lunch will be provided free for all residents upon their return. Please register at the office, so we have an idea of travel and catering requirements.
